Nicole Nieto, PhD, Program Director, Ohio State ADVANCE

Nicole Nieto

Nicole Nieto  has 16 years of higher education experience with a focus on equity, inclusion, leadership and dialogue. She has played major roles in developing and creating innovative learning curriculums in higher education.  She has experience facilitating workshops and trainings for a variety of audiences including local governments, higher education and the private sector. Nicole has experience assessing the needs of audiences and providing an engaging and dynamic facilitation based on those needs.

Nicole has designed, developed and facilitated training experiences using a variety of delivery methods including web-based, instructor-led and dialogue-based. She has experience utilizing several training methods including Strengths Quest, Intergroup Dialogue and National Coalition Building Institute.

Nicole currently serves as Program Director for Ohio State ADVANCE in the Office of Research at The Ohio State University (OSU).  She is responsible for creating and implementing workshops that address the specific needs of faculty and administration.  She oversees all programming initiatives.  Nicole is a member of the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Gender Initiative Advisory Board.  She has previously held various roles at OSU including Learning and Development Facilitator for the Office of Human Resources. Before that, she served in several capacities at the OSU Multicultural Center. Nicole is an experienced teacher and researcher, currently serving as Adjunct Faculty at Capital University teaching courses on cultural pluralism. She also teaches courses at Ohio State in the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies.

Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Mississippi, a Master of Arts in Women’s Studies from the University of Alabama and a Ph.D. in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies with a Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization in Folklore from The Ohio State University. Prior to coming to OSU, Nicole served as Assistant Director for International Student and Scholar Services at the University of Alabama.
