The Ohio State University welcomed Margot Lee Shetterly, author of Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race, to campus in March. Presented in collaboration with the College of Engineering, Ohio State ADVANCE and the Honda-Ohio State Partnership, this series of events and dialogues sought to create conversations focused on gender equity and STEM. While much has been achieved, there is still much work to be done including addressing the challenges that remain for women and girls in STEM.
Associate Vice President Mary Juhas served as a panelist, with colleagues from across campus, at an evening event on March 21. This panel examined the role of higher education in creating equity for women in STEM. Program Manager Nicole Nieto facilitated an earlier session for students with special guests Ms. Shetterly and Mrs. Brenda Drake.
