REACH for Commercialization

REACH for Commercialization™ – Inspiring Female Entrepreneurship at Ohio State and Beyond

Faculty members want their research to make a difference, yet most view the end product of their efforts as the referred publication or conference presentation. Engaging in commercialization activities can extend the REACH of research activities.

Ohio State ADVANCE is proud to offer REACH for Commercialization™ 2019. REACH is a year-long program designed to help women faculty and post-doctoral scholars explore commercialization as a means of expanding the impact of their research.

Workshop One: Visioning Impact from Research- Friday, January 25, 2019

This workshop introduces the commercialization process and features successful women entrepreneurs at Ohio State. Participants explore their own research programs, discuss potential ideas for commercialization and reflect upon the benefits and challenges of taking ideas to market.

Workshop Two: Learning the Landscape- Friday, February 22, 2019

Participants hear from supportive campus leaders and learn how Ohio State’s Technology Commercialization Office (TCO) and Rev1 Ventures can help turn research, ideas, inventions and technologies into products that make an impact locally and globally.

Workshop Three: Building a Team- Friday, March 29, 2019

Participants learn the importance of building an effective team to bring their innovation to market.  They identify their role in the process, and discover they don’t have to start a company or be the CEO.

Workshop Four: Understanding the Funding Lifecycle- Friday, April 26, 2019

Participants engage with experts from the TCO, Rev1 Ventures and representatives from potential funding sources (public and private) to understand the available options that are most appropriate at each stage.

Ongoing programming is offered through ADVANCE for REACH alumnae.  For more information on how to be involved with REACH, please contact Katie Musson, musson.7@osu.edu.
